Messages from a Lemon Tree

Sometimes life places us in a season of waiting, watching something grow, hoping it will ripen, wondering when the moment of fullness will arrive.

I started growing a lemon tree on my deck last summer. When it got colder outside, I moved it into the house's entryway, where it gets the best winter sunlight. It has been outside my office since December, waiting for this solo lemon to ripen.
One fruit hangs there, slowly turning toward ripeness. It is not rushing. It is not forcing itself to become something before its time. It simply absorbs the light, draws nourishment from its roots, and trusts the quiet rhythm of nature. It is not impatient, I’m the one with the problem of waiting. Besides that nearly ripened lemon, new blossoms have appeared.

This is nature’s gentle reminder that life is not a single moment of arrival. Even as one creation matures, another is just beginning. One cycle is completing while another quietly unfolds. And so, it is in the Universe. There is no need to rush what is ripening in your life. What is meant for you will mature in its own perfect timing. Just when you think the season is ending, another bloom will appear, full of possibility, fragrance, and promise.
The tree knows the secret: Growth is never only about the fruit. It is also about the courage to keep blooming.
